In addition to my writing, I also work in other editorial spaces on a freelance basis.
Copyediting
I have over 4 years’ copyediting experience, in both the academic and news worlds. The typo-free publications I’ve worked for include magazines such as Science and The Moonshot Catalog; a book of essays on documentary filmmaking; annotated educational materials created by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and countless thesis papers, wedding speeches, and even instagram posts.
Fact checking
I have verified facts for print and online publications and podcasts, including Knowable Magazine, Radiolab, and Wirecutter.
Video
I have experience in front of the camera (now accepting offers for Botox sponsorship) and writing video scripts, most recently at Wirecutter.
Vowel elongation
Some words just aren’t long or dramatic enough. A phrase like “ughh fine,” spoken by a novice, involves just two, brief syllables. But a seasoned doyen like myself can expand it to a full-bodied, 5-syllable “ughhhh fiiii-iiii-iiii-iine,” (for a nominal fee.) Other words and phrases that can benefit from vowel elongation: “ok” (ohhhh-kaay-eee-eeeey”); “not now” (nawwwwwt nooow-owww-owww); and, of course, “I ordered lasagna” (I ordered lahh-sahh-neee-yaaa-ahhhh-aaaw-aaah).
